Southern Tier: Done

01/29/13 21:56, by jsignal, Categories: life on two wheels

It's been a while since Jesse and I returned from our bicycle ride in Florida. This year's ride (Section 7 of the Adventure Cycling Southern Tier Route) completed the cross-country ride he and I had been doing in sections (as vacation time allowed) since 2003. Our first day of riding was on December 27th, 2003. We arrived at the Atlantic Ocean on January 4th, 2013. I've not added up my own mileage, but the route is said to be 3,058 miles altogether.

Section 7 was certainly one of the easiest of the 7 sections for us to ride. Florida is relatively flat, has decent roads, plenty of services, and even good cellular coverage. In section 7 we endured some cold weather (in the 20s) and some rain, but overall it was a good ride. Between the two of us, we only had one flat tire: Jesse, about 1/3 of a mile from the Atlantic Ocean. Figures.

Maybe someday I'll get the rest of my travel logs online. Maybe.
