We left my dad's house a little before 12:30. Jesse & I rode here to the park, and Ronnie got a ride from his mom. Penny treated us to supper in Garrison. But Ron, Jesse, Melanie, Penny, and myself all crammed into the pickup. Melanie had to sit on my lap.

It was about 93-95 degrees Fahrenheit during most of the ride, I sweat a lot! I also neglected to apply sunscreen this morning before the ride, and now have a bad burn.

It turns out the ride will be 421 miles long, with the longest day being 91 miles. Jesse wants to go for the century option on that day, giving 104.5 miles rather than 91. I'm not sure yet.

I hear the winds will be fighting us tomorrow. What a disappointment. The weather is supposed to be nice for most of the ride, however.

There was a very nice sunset tonight and, except for all the heat during our ride, it was beautiful.

Darn, I missed the opportunity to buy a breakfast ticket for tomorrow morning. I'll have to get food in Garrison or Max.

I saw Mr. Johnson just prior to the 8:00 information meeting.

This is the largest CANDISC yet, with 315 riders. They youngest is from Illinois, I believe, and is 12 years old. The oldest is 77, with a birthday this week. There are also many tandem bicycles and bicycles called recumbants, where the person sits down.
