We woke up at 5:00 a.m. to the sound of Ronnie's alarm clock. Like I said, I didn't have a breakfasts ticket, so I didn't eat. I bought some cookies and orange juice in Garrison. The ride just prior to and for several hours after sunrise was great. It was cool, there was little traffic, and there were many bikers in a small area, as they had not spread out yet. Everyone was friendly. There were a lot of hills, but I didn't really mind them. It was very scenic, and I enjoyed the ride very much. We ate in Sawyer at a very nice little cafe. When we finally got to Burlington, Jesse went home and Ron and I went to my grandma's house. We showered and ate some sandwiches. During our ride, Jesse got a flat tire, and we were attempting to change the tube when Rory from Val's cyclery pulled up in his repair/support vehicle. He put it in and patched the tire... it was a fairly large hole. Al three of us did fairly well today. Ron usually fell behind me, and I behind Jesse, but we all made it. Mr. Johnson loved today's ride. I spoke to him just on the edge of Burlington. He's staying in Minot tonight.. but will camp from then on. Jesse's parents brought him a new tire and food from McDonald's. Later, we went uptown and ate at the Hacienda. Shannon Foell was our waitress. We missed the opportunity to eat the tacos served here in the park but the Hacienda is always a nice place to eat. Tomorrow will likely be more of the same... according to the weather and distance. It will probably be fun. |
