<< yesterday | tomorrow >>

Today was terrible, the wind switched several times, but was almost always against us. Usually, we were going about 10 mph.

Ron's chain keeps coming off and my bike is making grinding noises. I may lubricate the chain, etc. I am considering buying road tires for the bike. It may make tomorrow's grueling 83 miles a little easier. I found the repair truck, but Rory wasn't there working.

The sag wagons were full most of today, people didn't make it. Mr. Johnson did fine, and beat us here, in fact. We stopped in Kenmare for Pizza, so that slowed us down by over an hour.

While at the pizza place, some people from Colorado, who were riding a tandem bicycle, helped Ronnie adjust his deraileur, but it still needs fine tuning. The chain came off again later.

We left Burlington at 5:45 a.m., and arrived here in Bowbells at 3:00 p.m. or so. We were greeted by cheerleaders, road signs, free sippers filled with ice water, and free refills. (Which is just what I wanted as I pulled up to the city park.) Also, free swimming! It felt great!! The water was so nice. Bowbells sure did make us feel right at home.

"Duke the Wonder Dog" will be performing tonight. We are going to see that. Also, Philip Branesky, Jesse's cousin from Kent, WA, will be joining us tonight.

I hope we have better winds tomorrow, or I will be riding the sag wagon.
