The ride today was long. I left at 5:30 without breakfast. The chow line was endless, the fare too poor, and town was nowhere in sight. An hour into the ride I found a supper club at Pelican Lake serving eggs, hash browns, and ham in a buffet. I finally got breakfast.

After about 40 miles, Justin caught me and we rode together the rest of the day. We didn't see much of Karen and Dennis – a couple we rode with yesterday.

The tour rode to Merril today, but Wausau is only fifteen miles farther south, so Justin & I opted for the comforts of his condo.

The day was extremely hot. I took some convincing before I agreed to ride the extra miles . . . I'd never done two century rides back-to-back. We stopped at the school in Merrill, packed the absolute essentials in my bike pack and rode on to Wausau.

At Justin's place, we adjusted my derailler to keep the chain from slipping off the outside of the chainring and washed our bikes.

Throughout the ride I saw very few towns and a lot of green stuff. We're riding the county roads, which all seem to be paved in Wisconsin. Because the roads are so rural, there is very little traffic. In North Dakota, roads aren't paved unless they are well-used by cars. My home state could use a few roads like this.

Not many photos today. The greenery is nice, if a little monotonous. Tomorrow is a short day – only 40 miles. I imagine we'll sleep in late and enjoy the A.C.
